Crises Intervention Services
Individuals from the community that need to stabilize substancial maladaptive behavioral and/or life threatening medical issues are admitted to the Developmental Center through the Division of Services for People with Disabilities Emergency Services Management Committee. They initally go into our Crises Intervention Services. These services are designed to help individuals resolve the behavioral and/or medical problems that limit their ability to live in their desired community residence.
Individuals in Crises Intervention Services receive support from many professions including: Psychology, Medical, Nursing, Social Work, Music, Recreation, Physical and Occupational Therapies. Direct Care Staff support the individuals throughout all of their daily activities.
Individuals in these services participate in establishing a daily schedule and choosing activities. The activities they participate in away from the Developmental Center are highly supervised and may be limited until they begin to show resolution of their reasons for admission. Developmental Center activities include work, day training, entertainment, sports, exercise, crafts, etc.
Once the behavioral and/or medical reasons for admission are resolved for a period of time confirming stabalization, the individual's professional team pursue discharge to the program the individual was admitted from, or to another program outside of the Developmental Center.
